What is Human Design?
Human Design is a system of self-knowledge that combines the ancient wisdom of the I Ching, the Kabbalah, the Hindu-Brahmin chakra system, and Western astrology with modern science — quantum physics, biochemistry, and genetics. It was created by Ra Uru Hu (Robert Alan Krakower) in 1987 after a mystical experience that lasted eight days.
Unlike astrology, which uses only your time and place of birth, Human Design uses two key moments: the moment of your birth and exactly 88 days before birth (called the Design calculation). These two calculations together form your Bodygraph — a visual map of your energetic mechanics.
The Bodygraph — Your Energy Map
The Bodygraph is the central diagram in Human Design. It contains nine energy centers (similar to chakras), 36 channels, and 64 gates (corresponding to the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching). Centers can be defined (colored) or undefined (white). Defined centers represent consistent energies within you, while undefined centers show where you are open to influences from the environment.
The Five Energy Types
Manifestador
Los Manifestadores son el único tipo diseñado para iniciar. Tienen un aura cerrada y repelente que les permite moverse por el mundo de forma independiente. Su desafío clave es aprender a informar a las personas que les rodean antes de actuar — no para pedir permiso, sino para reducir la resistencia que crean naturalmente. Cuando viven correctamente, los Manifestadores experimentan una paz profunda.
Generador
Los Generadores son la fuerza laboral de la humanidad con una enorme energía vital que se regenera cada día a través del centro Sacral. Están diseñados para esperar algo del mundo externo a lo que responder — una sensación visceral que dice "ajá" (sí) o "mmm-mm" (no). Cuando siguen su respuesta sacral e invierten energía en lo que verdaderamente les satisface, experimentan una profunda satisfacción.
Generador Manifestante
Los Generadores Manifestantes son un tipo híbrido que combina la energía del Generador con la capacidad del Manifestador para iniciar. Tienen un centro Sacral definido y un canal motor-garganta. Son multitareas naturales que a menudo trabajan en múltiples cosas simultáneamente. Su proceso es no lineal — saltan pasos, vuelven atrás, cambian de dirección. Esto es su mecánica correcta, no un defecto.
Proyector
Los Proyectores no tienen acceso constante a energía para trabajar — su don reside en guiar y dirigir la energía de otros. Tienen un aura enfocada y penetrante que les permite ver profundamente en otras personas. Están diseñados para esperar invitaciones formales para grandes decisiones de vida (carrera, relaciones, mudanzas). Cuando son reconocidos e invitados, pueden ser guías y asesores extraordinariamente efectivos.
Reflector
Los Reflectores son el tipo más raro en Diseño Humano — todos sus centros están indefinidos (blancos). Son espejos de la comunidad, completamente abiertos a las energías de su entorno. Su diseño único requiere un ciclo lunar completo de 28 días antes de tomar decisiones importantes, porque su experiencia cambia a medida que la Luna transita por su carta. La salud de la comunidad en la que viven afecta directamente su bienestar.
Inner Authority
Authority is your personal mechanism for making correct decisions. Unlike the mind, which is designed for thinking but not for deciding, authority operates through the body. There are seven types of authority:
- Emotional (Solar Plexus) — the most common authority. Decisions require time — never decide at an emotional high or low. Wait for the wave to settle.
- Sacral — a gut response, an "uh-huh" or "uh-uh" sound. Spontaneous and immediately available, but only for pure Generators.
- Splenic Authority — instant intuition, a quiet inner voice that speaks only once. Recognize it immediately or you miss it.
- Ego / Heart — decisions based on willpower and commitment. The question is: "Do I really want this?"
- Self-Projected — talk about the decision out loud and listen to yourself. Truth reveals itself through your voice.
- Mental / Environmental — for Projectors with no inner authority. Rely on trusted sounding boards who can reflect back to you.
- Lunar — only for Reflectors. Wait a full lunar cycle of 28 days before any major decision.
Profile — Your Life Role
The Profile consists of two numbers (e.g., 3/5 or 6/2) and describes your life role — how you learn and how others perceive you. There are twelve profiles, from 1/3 (Investigator/Martyr) to 6/2 (Role Model/Hermit). Your profile reveals the theme of your life experiences and the way you exchange energy with the world.

The Bodygraph contains nine centers, each with a specific function. Defined (colored) centers operate consistently, while undefined (white) centers receive and amplify energies from the environment:
- Head (Crown) — inspiration, mental pressure, questions
- Ajna — conceptualization, mental processing, opinions
- Throat — communication, manifestation, action
- G Center (Self) — identity, direction, love
- Heart / Will (Ego) — willpower, material world, value
- Solar Plexus — emotions, passion, desire, fear
- Sacral Center — life force, sexuality, work, fertility
- Spleen — intuition, health, fears, survival
- Root — adrenaline pressure, stress, drive
